How rank and testing works for new students

Beginner Ranks

We have recently updated requirements for beginner ranks to align with our parent school, Maum Sin Yong.   Some considerations for testing include:  Time at rank and attendance, when a student starts compared to the testing schedule, attitude inside and outside of class, and proper demonstration of required techniques.

*  Most adult beginners will be in the Beginner Class for 3-5 months.  Most adults will test from white belt to gold/yellow belt (again, depending on when he/she starts).  Some adults may test to high white belt, depending on circumstances.

*  Adolescents (roughly 14-18) will often go from white to gold/yellow, but some may go to high white, also depending on circumstances.

*  Youth between 9 and 13 will most typically go from white to high white.

*  Children between 7 and 9 years old will usually go from white to 1 stripe white, and then to high white at their next test.

*  Individuals with special needs, those requiring adaptation,  or other extenuating circumstances will be evaluated and test for rank according to the instructors' discretion.

Students move from the Beginner to the Intermediate class either at high white or yellow/gold belt, based on the instructors' discretion and student-family considerations.  Students will be notified of the class for which they should register.  High Gold belt and above MUST be in the Intermediate class.

Knowing Your TKD History

Knowing your Taekwon-Do history is a very important part of increasing in rank.  This tab offers studying resources to learn your TKD History.  The best, and MOST COMPLETE way to study would be through Quizlet.  We also offer other study avenues, but they are NOT as thorough/comprehensive.
